| The following information is the latest from the MoPac East Connector Trail Project. The MoPac project team recently worked with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission on a feasibility assessment exploring potential opportunities to extend the MoPac East Trail to and through Platte River State Park and Louisville State Recreation Area and ultimately connect to the City of Louisville.  The assessment looked at five different sub-areas between the Lied-Platte River Bridge and Louisville. Some of these areas, spanning Platte River State Park and Louisville State Recreation Area, already include existing trails that could be considered as part of a future connection. Based on direction from the MoPac East-Lied Connector Subcommittee, the team remains focused first on Sub-Areas A and B, which would connect the Lied-Platte River Bridge to and through the western portion of Platte River State Park. The team is taking the next steps to further determine the feasibility of the potential routes in these areas.  |
| Construction activities for the MoPac East Trail extension continue along the 2.25-mile segment east of the Wabash Trailhead. Trail construction is expected to be completed this fall. Check out the progress! Trail Corridor Remains CLOSED During Construction For public safety and to protect the progress made, we ask that residents and trail users do not enter the area until construction is complete. As shown in the photo below, using the trail during construction can damage work in progress and create additional work for construction crews. Please respect all barricades and trail closures.  |
